Radio Involvement |
I have since the aged of 14 (1992) been involved with community radio and the production of segments for commercial and other public radio. I owe this interest in radio thanks to Wauchope High School and was encouraged by students and teachers alike to broadcast over the schools PA and then later to join the community radio station 2WAY FM 103.9. This station was in it fledgling years and there was no other radio stations on the FM band at this time except for ABC Classic FM. I presented radio programs on the community radio station since 1992 to present day.

He is currently the technical director and works with a group of volunteers and paid contractors in keeping the station on the air. The station is run entirely by volunteers. |

It isn’t only about broadcasting as a deejay, my involvement with community radio runs deeper than that and extends into technical and production as well as learning new things. 2WAY FM has taught me much needed knowledge about broadcasting equipment that can also be used in other businesses or career paths. I know a lot about broadcast and voice over IP services due to the station digitizing its systems, music on hold, music systems and other areas. I even developed the new news casting system for the station so it would take Macquarie National News on the hour. |
When time permits I am often found on bulleting boards or industry chat forums keeping to day with technology developments. I do often comment on what’s happening in the sectors and I find the challenges that present themselves at both community and commercial level amazing. This is a hobby, like you guys go fishing, paint paintings, go gardening or go and play footy, I instead spend my spare time furthering the advances of radio and having fun. Radio is infectious, its gets in your blood and where else can you be completely anonymous |
