About Peter Saville |
 |
I grew up in Wauchope, New South Wales, I was schooled by two of the leading schools in the area who not only inspired me to follow a broadcasting career but look at a career in information technology. I am a broadcaster, Basic Web Developer, Technician, Information Technologist all rolled into the one package.
I became interested in consumer electronics and computer based technologies at a very early age. I was always pulling apart household appliances and radios to see how they work. During primary school thanks to humble MicroBee computers I became very interested in computers. Heading into High School learning the Apple 2E and 2C left me really hooked on computers. I still like to experiment with old computers and was interested in the various computer operating systems such as Linux, Windows, Mac OS with all versions and OS2. I am also very interested in open source software for Windows, Linux and Uni, as well as the new version of OS2 being produced by a company in the United States |
I studied information technology and radio broadcasting in 1997 and when completing these studies began teaching with NSW TAFE in the fields of information technology till 2001 when I was head hunted by a government owned utility company to work on the helpdesk of their Internet Service Provider. This ISP was formed from three legacy ISP’s owned by the utility companies predecessors and over the 6 years I worked with the company as a helpdesk officer, the job moved from also being helpdesk technical support and later as staff left and the management decided not to replace them, the role included desktop sales.
I currently work in both the contract preventative maintenance and Break/fix environments in the information technology maintenance service industry. I formerly worked for two companies that sub contracted to a national service company that’s role was to look after wagering terminals, Poker Machines CMS, Data Monitoring Services, Point of Sales for major fast food outlets and shopping and variety stores. Also servicing and warranty repairs on IBM and Lenovo desktop machines for IBM managed services. I now work for the leading IT service provider in the Hastings which is the authorised service centre for HP & Compaq for both PC, Servers and Notebook computers as well as the world leading HP printers. The company also does 90% of the EFTPOS work for all the banks in the area.

I also as you will see have a passion for broadcasting and it gets stronger each day as broadcasting evolves into new technologies. Broadcasting over IP, internet streaming and wifi netcasting are area I find myself becoming more and more enthusiastic about. I have through my radio work used many different technologies to broadcast with and some of these are very interesting how they work . I spend a lot of time mucking around with computers and audio technologies. |
